What is Experiential Therapy?
At New Day Recovery, we believe in a holistic approach to recovery, integrating experiential therapies to support and enhance our clients’ journey to sobriety. Experiential therapy offers a unique and immersive way for clients to connect with themselves, others, and the natural world, fostering a deeper sense of mindfulness and well-being.
Regular Activities for All Clients
Yoga
Each year, our sober living clients enjoy a free fishing trip where they rent houses and spend time fishing together. This trip promotes relaxation, camaraderie, and the joy of spending time in nature.
Sound Baths
Sound baths are a regular part of our experiential therapy program, offering a meditative experience through the healing power of sound. These sessions use various sound instruments to create a soothing environment, promoting relaxation and a deep sense of inner peace.
Drum Circles
Drum circles are an integral part of our community activities, held regularly to encourage self-expression and connection. Through the rhythmic practice of drumming, clients can release emotional tension, improve focus, and build a sense of community and support.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Cave Outings
Every two months, our IOP clients enjoy a special outing to the nearby Cave Without a Name, featuring a drum circle and sound bath in a peaceful, natural setting. These experiences foster connection, mindfulness, and meditation—helping clients strengthen their recovery journey beyond the clinical environment.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) Group Outings
Our PHP clients benefit from weekly group outings to natural settings such as parks for nature walks or hikes. These outings provide a regular opportunity to connect with nature, engage in physical activity, and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of the outdoors.

Regular Activities for All Clients
For clients in our sober living program, we offer three special annual trips that provide unique and enriching experiences:
Fishing Trip
Our yoga sessions are held three times a week, helping clients to develop physical strength, flexibility, and mental clarity. Through mindful movement and breath work, yoga supports emotional balance and stress reduction.
Big Bend Camping Trip
Each November, we organize a camping trip to Big Bend National Park. This trip includes camping, hiking, campfires, and grilling, offering a perfect blend of adventure and community building. Clients can explore the beauty of the park, connect with nature, and strengthen their bonds with fellow clients.
Winter Ski Trip
During the winter season, our sober living clients have the opportunity to go on a ski trip to New Mexico. This trip provides an exciting and active way to enjoy the winter landscape, promoting physical activity and group cohesion.
At New Day Recovery, our experiential therapy offerings are designed to support our clients’ recovery journey through meaningful and engaging activities. By incorporating yoga, sound baths, drum circles, and various outdoor outings, we provide a comprehensive and holistic approach to recovery that nurtures the mind, body, and spirit.
